Installation
System Selection
When deciding on a wind turbine to purchase, you will want to consider several factors.
- The size of your load or the amount of electricity you would like to produce
- Your total budget and financing potential
- Site-specific concerns like height restrictions, type of power available, and soil conditions.
Seventh Generation Systems Integration installs wind turbines that have proven designs, robust warranties and customer service. Most machines we install are newly manufactured, but sometimes less-expensive, high-quality, remanufactured machines are available.
The size of your wind turbine will be decided by how much electricity you want to make. Based on your average wind speed, a certified site assessor will estimate the annual output from several turbines for you to consider and compare to your annual electricity usage. Using this data, you can decide on an appropriate size range.
Next, you need to consider the financials of the project. As a full service installer, Seventh Generation will assist you with calculations of the various incentives available to you that reduce the end cost. Along with information on the range of systems appropriate to your project, you can then decide what machine best fits your needs and budget.

The details of your site will determine what wind turbines you can install. Some sites have restrictions on tower height due to zoning requirements or proximity to airports. Some machines only work with three-phase power. A full service installer will help you through the process of finding limiting factors and making the right choice of wind turbine for your site.
How to Choose an Installer
When you are planning to install a wind turbine system, you want to have a knowledgeable, experienced installation firm to help you through the process. Some things you might consider are services offered by the installer, the installer’s resume, and how well the installer understands your goals.
Some firms offer more services than others. Services may include financial incentive assistance, grant writing services, general contracting services, wind turbine service and maintenance contracts available, feasibility studies for larger projects, installation of other renewable energy technologies, and many others.
Look at the resume of the installer. What experience does the installer have with the kind of system that you want to install? How many installations has the installer performed in total? It is useful to call references for both the manufacturer and the installer.
It is also important to feel comfortable working with your installer. Give us a call and see if we’re right for you!
